ESM Bank

A banking web application built to handle user accounts, authentication, account information, and banking-related functionality.

Overview

ESM Bank is a full-stack banking application that I built to explore how a real-world financial application can connect a frontend interface with a backend API and database.

My contribution

I worked across both the frontend and backend of the application. My work included building the user-facing banking interface, connecting the frontend to backend services, working with authentication, handling user data, and integrating the application with MongoDB.

What I built

I built the application around a user account workflow where users can access their account, authenticate themselves, and view relevant banking information through the dashboard.

Authentication & security

I implemented authentication using JWT and worked with protected routes so that authenticated parts of the application are not accessible to unauthenticated users.

Backend & database

The backend was built with Node.js and Express.js, with MongoDB used for storing application data. I also worked with REST APIs to connect the frontend and backend.

What I learned

This project gave me practical experience working across the full stack rather than treating frontend and backend development as completely separate tasks. It also helped me understand the importance of authentication, API integration, database design, and debugging.
